Three Senators Defect from PDP to APC in Latest Political Shift

Three senators have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, further reshaping the political balance in the Nigerian Senate.

The defections were announced during plenary at the Nigerian Senate.

The lawmakers who switched parties are:

• Ikra Aliyu Bilbis – Senator representing Zamfara Central

• Aminu Iya Abbas – Senator representing Adamawa Central

• Amos Yohanna – Senator representing Adamawa North

The latest defections reflect ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Party defections have become a recurring feature of Nigeria’s political landscape, often influencing legislative dynamics and party strength within the National Assembly.

With these moves, the APC continues to consolidate its numbers in the Senate while the PDP faces renewed internal challenges.
