A 24-year-old man has been arrested by the Airport Police Command in Lagos over an alleged romance fraud involving N48.5 million (approx. $35,000).

The suspect, Precious Onudhona, was arrested on February 2, 2026, while attempting to board a flight to Asaba, Delta State, after police received actionable intelligence.

Police say Onudhona joined a fraud syndicate in 2023 that targeted victims on Facebook and Instagram by creating fake profiles and narratives to win trust and extract money.

He allegedly posed as Travis Kevin, a supposed American medical doctor, and even created a fake banking site showing false account balances to convince victims of his credibility.

Victims were reportedly told the money was needed for feeding or medical supplies after he claimed to have been injured and were convinced to send funds through cryptocurrency payments.

The Commissioner of Police at the Airport Command has ordered a comprehensive investigation to identify other syndicate members.

Authorities reiterated that the aviation environment is highly sensitive and must not be exploited for criminal activities, stressing continued intelligence-led policing at airports.
