The Philippine House justice committee has dismissed two impeachment complaints filed against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., declaring them insufficient in substance.

The decision immediately grants President Marcos a one-year constitutional immunity from further impeachment attempts.

According to lawmakers, the complaints failed to meet the legal and procedural standards required to proceed to a full House deliberation.

As a result, the committee voted to junk both cases, effectively closing the impeachment process for the president until the next allowable period under the law.

Meanwhile, political observers say the ruling strengthens the president’s position in the legislature and reduces immediate political pressure on his administration.

The House leadership is expected to formally transmit the committee’s decision to relevant parliamentary offices in line with legislative procedure.
