A Kano-based commentator, Safiyanu Kabir Sani, has advised young entrepreneur Salim Goje to adopt a more discreet approach to wealth creation, describing humility and privacy as key values behind the success of many wealthy business figures in the state.

Sani, in a statement, argued that Kano’s traditional business culture is built around quiet accumulation of wealth, noting that many successful entrepreneurs maintain low profiles despite controlling significant assets.

He cited markets such as Kwari, where he said there are young businessmen with fortunes far exceeding public expectations but who remain largely unknown because of their cultural and religious upbringing.

According to him, many of Kano’s wealthiest individuals only become known after their businesses have grown to a level that attracts public attention.

“Whenever Kano eventually reveals its wealthy individuals, it is usually to the surprise of the world. Their wealth was not made overnight; it was accumulated quietly over many years,” Sani said.

He said entrepreneurs such as AA Rano, Aliko Oil & Gas, AY Me Kifi and SUFAYE represent examples of business people who built their fortunes with a strong focus on enterprise rather than public display.

Sani expressed concern that Salim Goje’s public lifestyle, which includes frequent appearances with entertainers, influencers and celebrities, could distract from long-term business growth.

He argued that spending heavily on public recognition, entertainment and social events may generate fame but does not necessarily create sustainable wealth.

“The lifestyle Salim Goje has chosen is not one that increases wealth; it is one that drains it. Fame may come, but wealth requires continuous investment and discipline,” he said.

The commentator also questioned whether Goje’s real estate ventures were receiving the level of attention required for expansion, saying that serious entrepreneurs understand the importance of staying focused on their core businesses.

However, Sani concluded with a prayer, urging Goje to remain committed to his businesses, reduce distractions and continue building a lasting legacy.
