Opposition parties have commenced the implementation of resolutions reached at the August 31 summit convened by the G100, with the coalition’s Central Leadership Committee setting timelines for the establishment of key committees and working groups.
The development followed the inaugural meeting of the Central Leadership Committee on Wednesday, where members reviewed the communiqué issued after the summit and agreed on measures to translate the resolutions into concrete actions.
The G100 convened the summit in Abuja to provide a platform for opposition parties to discuss cooperation and coordination ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Representatives of six opposition parties participated in the summit: the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The G100 had explained that the summit was intended to establish a framework for cooperation among the parties rather than immediately determine a common presidential candidate.
Following the summit, the parties established a Central Leadership Committee to oversee the implementation of the resolutions reached.
In a statement signed by Salihu Moh. Lukman on behalf of the coalition parties, the committee said it had adopted operational principles based on equality and mutual respect among participating parties.
It said the chairmanship of meetings would rotate among the parties in alphabetical order.
The committee explained that the arrangement was intended to reflect the principle of equality upon which the coalition was founded.
The statement said the committee had also commenced the process of activating the Publicity Committee, Legal Committee and five Working Groups established at the August summit.
“All parties agreed to submit names of their nominees to the Secretariat by the close of work on Friday, September 18, 2026 and all the Committees and Working Group should commence work in the week of September 21 – 27, 2026,” the statement said.
The Central Leadership Committee also resolved to expand the coalition to accommodate other opposition parties that have expressed interest in joining the initiative.

The committee is expected to reconvene on Wednesday, September 23, as it works towards establishing a regular meeting schedule for the coalition.
According to the statement, the meetings are expected to support efforts to bring opposition parties together and facilitate a coordinated approach ahead of the 2027 elections.
The G100 had earlier maintained that its role was to facilitate the opposition cooperation process rather than determine outcomes for the participating parties.
G100 Convener, Salihu Moh. Lukman, said the group was not promoting any particular candidate or political party, adding that decisions emerging from the process would remain the responsibility of the participating parties.
