The Borno State Government has approved an administrative restructuring that transfers the supervision of the Borno Geographic Information Services (BOGIS) and the Urban Planning and Development Board (UPDB) from the Governor’s Office to the Ministry of Works and Housing.
The decision was approved during a meeting of the Borno State Executive Council as part of efforts to enhance administrative efficiency and improve coordination in the management of land administration, urban planning, and housing-related responsibilities.
According to a statement issued by the Directorate of Information, Ministry of Information and Internal Security, Borno State, the restructuring takes immediate effect.
The government said the transfer of supervisory responsibilities was made for administrative convenience and is expected to strengthen institutional coordination between the two agencies and the Ministry of Works and Housing.
Following the directive, all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the state have been instructed to comply with the new administrative arrangement without delay.
The Borno Geographic Information Services (BOGIS) is responsible for land administration, geographic information management, and related services, while the Urban Planning and Development Board (UPDB) oversees physical planning, urban development, and development control across the state.
The state government expressed confidence that the new arrangement will improve service delivery and ensure more effective implementation of policies relating to land management, urban planning, and infrastructure development.
