Ajimobi Assumes Nigeria Ambassadorial Role in Vienna

Florence Ajimobi has officially arrived in Vienna to begin her assignment as the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Austria and the International Organisations in Vienna.

Her arrival marks the commencement of a new diplomatic chapter aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s bilateral relations with Austria while advancing the country’s interests within major international institutions based in Vienna.

Announcing her arrival in a Facebook post on Friday, Ajimobi disclosed that she received a warm welcome at the VIP Wing of Vienna International Airport.

She was received by the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy and Permanent Mission, Mr. Muyiwa Onifade, alongside Home-Based Officers, Local Staff, and prominent members of the Nigerian community in Austria.

The reception also featured representatives of key Nigerian associations, including the Oduduwa Group, the Igbo Cultural Group, the Nigeria-Austria Friendship Group, the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), and the Nigerian Students in Austria.

Their presence reflected the strong support of the Nigerian diaspora for the country’s new diplomatic representative.

In her message, Ajimobi expressed appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed her commitment to promoting Nigeria’s diplomatic objectives.

She is expected to play a significant role in enhancing cooperation between Nigeria and Austria in areas such as trade, investment, education, security, and cultural exchange.

As Permanent Representative to the international organisations headquartered in Vienna, Ajimobi will also represent Nigeria at key global institutions, contributing to discussions on nuclear energy, industrial development, crime prevention, and other multilateral issues.

Her appointment comes at a time when Nigeria continues to deepen international partnerships and strengthen engagement with its citizens abroad.

Stakeholders are optimistic that her experience and leadership will further enhance Nigeria’s diplomatic presence in Austria and reinforce collaboration with international organisations based in Vienna.
