Egypt is allegedly using a concealed airbase to carry out drone operations targeting Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), according to a new investigative report.
The report, cites satellite imagery, flight records, video evidence and interviews with officials. It claims the operations have been ongoing for at least six months.
According to the findings, the airbase is located within a large agricultural development project in Egypt’s western desert. Analysts say the location helps shield the facility from public attention.
Meanwhile, Cairo is known to support Sudan’s transitional government and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). The SAF has recently lost control of several strategic towns to the RSF.
One of the most significant setbacks occurred in North Darfur’s el-Fasher, where fighting has intensified in recent months. Humanitarian groups have raised concerns over the impact of the conflict on civilians in the area.

Furthermore, the report suggests that Egypt’s alleged involvement reflects growing regional interests in the Sudan conflict, which has drawn increasing international attention.
Egyptian authorities have not publicly responded to the claims at the time of filing this report.
Observers say the development could further complicate diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict and stabilising Sudan.
