Former Information Minister Lai Mohammed says Peter Obi still wouldn’t have won the 2023 Nigerian presidential election even with 10 million votes.

He explained on the State Affairs Podcast that Obi failed to meet the constitutional rule requiring 25% of votes in at least 25 states.

Mohammed also claimed Obi’s campaign could not deploy agents to around 40,000 polling units  weakening oversight and reach.

He noted that ethnicity and religion played a more prominent role in 2023 than ever before.

Mohammed said widespread youth resentment following EndSARS affected votes, especially in Lagos.

He argued that presidential elections are less personal than governorship or National Assembly contests.

On President Tinubu’s leadership, Mohammed stressed that Tinubu continues to back his supporters even after losses.

Lai Mohammed says Peter Obi still wouldn’t have won the 2023 Nigerian election even with 10 million votes, citing failure to meet the constitutional requirement of 25% votes in 25 states and other election dynamics.
