Customs, EFCC Step Up Joint Efforts Against Financial Crimes

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Zone ‘A’ Headquarters in Lagos, has intensified inter-agency collaboration following a courtesy visit by senior officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The visit was aimed at strengthening the fight against financial crimes and enhancing national security.

According to a statement signed by the Zonal Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Akaninyene Edeminam, the visit formed part of ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation between both agencies.

The EFCC delegation was led by the Acting Zonal Director, Lagos 1, Assistant Chief Executive I (ACE I) Adebayo Adeniyi.

They were received by the Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs and Zonal Coordinator, Zone ‘A’, ACG Mohammed Babandede.

Welcoming the delegation, Babandede described inter-agency collaboration as a core policy focus of the NCS.

He said effective intelligence sharing and coordinated operations were critical to achieving national objectives.

He added that collaboration would help facilitate trade, boost economic growth, strengthen national security, and protect public health and safety. He noted that joint efforts remained key to institutional efficiency.

In his remarks, Adeniyi commended the Customs Service for the warm reception.

He described the visit as a reflection of the strong partnership and mutual trust between the EFCC and the NCS.

He stressed that security and regulatory agencies must work together to tackle economic and financial crimes effectively.

He also called for sustained cooperation in joint investigations and intelligence-sharing initiatives.
