The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Tuesday hosted a strategic engagement with the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) to strengthen collaboration on the use of official data for agricultural financing and policy implementation in Nigeria.

The meeting, held at the NBS headquarters, brought together the Statistician-General of the Federation and the Executive Secretary of NADF, Mr. Mohammed A. Ibrahim, alongside senior officials from both institutions.

Speaking during the engagement, the Statistician-General reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to supporting evidence-based development in the agricultural sector through the provision of timely, credible, and high-quality statistical data.

He emphasized that reliable agricultural data remains critical for effective planning, monitoring, and evaluation of government interventions aimed at boosting food security and rural livelihoods.

On his part, the Executive Secretary of NADF, Mr. Mohammed A. Ibrahim, stated that the Fund’s mandate as Nigeria’s first dedicated agricultural development financing institution requires strict reliance on data-driven decision-making.

According to him, aligning financing interventions with accurate sector data will improve transparency, optimize resource allocation, and ensure that investments target high-impact value chains and underserved farming communities.

Both agencies agreed to deepen technical cooperation, data sharing, and joint analytical frameworks to support agricultural financing, policy formulation, and sustainable sector growth.

The meeting marks the formal commencement of a strategic partnership between NBS and NADF aimed at building a more resilient, productive, and data-driven agricultural ecosystem in Nigeria.
