The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued its weather forecast for the early week, predicting predominantly sunny and cloudy conditions across the country from Monday through Wednesday.
According to the outlook released in Abuja, the northern region will experience mostly clear skies throughout the forecast period. Temperatures are expected to remain warm during the day and cooler at night, with no major weather disturbances anticipated.
The central region will similarly enjoy sunny conditions, with occasional cloud patches scattered across states in the area. Meteorologists expect minimal rainfall, making it largely favorable for outdoor activities and travel.
In the southern states, residents can expect a mix of sun and clouds, accompanied by occasional isolated thunderstorms and light rainfall. This pattern is typical for the coastal and rainforest areas during this season.
States forecast to experience rain at different times include Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo, Delta, Ondo, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Imo, Abia, Anambra, and Osun. Rainfall in these areas is expected to be short-lived but could be locally intense in some spots.
NiMet has advised motorists to exercise caution during rainfall due to slippery roads and reduced visibility. Drivers are urged to reduce speed and maintain safe distances to prevent accidents during showers.
Airline operators and flight planners have been reminded to obtain airport-specific weather reports, particularly in regions prone to thunderstorms. Such precautions will help ensure safe operations and timely flight schedules amid changing weather conditions.
