The Kano State Government has inaugurated about 2,000 members of the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch Corps as part of efforts to strengthen community-based security and enhance the protection of lives and property across the state.
The Neighbourhood Watch Corps was established by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in line with his administration’s commitment to addressing insecurity through grassroots participation and closer collaboration with conventional security agencies.
Speaking at the inauguration, the state government described the initiative as a major step towards promoting vigilance, peace and public safety at the community level. The corps is expected to complement the efforts of existing security agencies by providing timely intelligence, monitoring neighbourhood activities and fostering stronger relationships between residents and law enforcement authorities.
