Tinubu Hails Super Eagles’ 4–1 Win Over Gabon

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday congratulated the Super Eagles following their 4–1 victory over Gabon in the FIFA World Cup qualifying Africa Playoff match, describing the result as a strong boost to Nigeria’s qualification campaign.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, the President said the team’s performance reflected the “Nigerian character that rises, adapts, and prevails,” noting that football remains one of the country’s strongest unifying forces.

Tinubu commended the players, coaching crew, and backroom staff for what he called their commitment to national duty, adding that the win demonstrates the depth of talent available to the national team.

He further praised Nigerians home and abroad for their continued support, saying their passion remains a significant motivation for the squad in crucial international fixtures.

The President urged the team to maintain focus as they prepare for upcoming qualifiers, stressing that each match represents a fresh opportunity to display discipline and resilience.

“The true Nigerian spirit is resilience against all odds. Do not stop until you secure qualification. Super Eagles, keep soaring. The nation stands with you,” the President said.
