Urhobo College Crowned Champions of 2025 Delta Principals’ Cup

It was celebration galore at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, as Urhobo College, Uvwie, clinched the 2025 Delta State/Zenith Bank Principals’ Cup title after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Ogbe-Ijoh Grammar School, Warri South West.

The Uvwie boys got off to a dream start, scoring just 37 seconds into the match before doubling their lead in the 30th minute. Despite a spirited second-half fightback that saw Ogbe-Ijoh pull one back, Urhobo College held their ground to lift the prestigious trophy.

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by his deputy John Onyeme, praised the finalists and hailed Zenith Bank and organisers HideaPlus Limited for their continued support in grassroots sports development.

Also commending the tournament’s success, Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, reaffirmed Delta’s reputation as Nigeria’s powerhouse in youth football.

Zenith Bank’s Managing Director, Dr. Adaora Umeoji, represented by Dr. Ifeanyi Atamah, expressed pride in the bank’s commitment to nurturing young talent, noting that several former participants have advanced to professional football.

Urhobo College coach Adamu Ali and his jubilant captain dedicated the victory to their supporters, vowing to defend the title next year.

In the third-place playoff, Justice Peace and Success Academy, Aniocha South, edged Otokutu Grammar School, Ughelli South, 1-0.

For their triumph, Urhobo College received an 18-seater Hummer bus and ₦2 million, while Ogbe-Ijoh Grammar School and other top finishers received cash prizes.

With this victory, Urhobo College have etched their name in Delta’s football history as the new kings of the 2025 Principals’ Cup.
