Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State on Monday commissioned and distributed 100 newly built, energy-efficient homes to indigent widows in the state.
The housing units, constructed under a partnership between the Family Homes Funds and the Kaduna State Government, mark the pilot phase of a national social housing initiative aimed at providing affordable shelter for vulnerable citizens.
Speaking at the event, Governor Sani described the project as “a symbol of hope, stability, and empowerment” for widows who have faced hardship, noting that the initiative aligns with his administration’s focus on inclusive growth and social welfare.
He thanked the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development for their commendations, saying their support reinforces the government’s drive to ensure that “no one is left behind.”

The governor said Kaduna is expanding access to affordable housing through partnerships with local and international investors. He listed ongoing developments, including the Qatar Sannabil Project for victims of banditry, the Nuru Suraj Ungwar Dosa New Extension, and the Millennium City Project by Urban Shelter.
Governor Sani also disclosed that the Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Customs Service, NDLEA, and the Federal Housing Authority are currently undertaking mass housing projects in the state.
He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the initiative and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding access to safe and affordable housing across Kaduna State.
