VP Shettima Leads Tributes at Funeral of CBN Deputy Governor’s Mother

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday led top government officials and dignitaries to the funeral of Deaconess Eno Nnana Usoro, mother of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Deputy Governor, Ms. Emem Nnana Usoro, describing her as a woman whose life embodied grace, faith, and service to humanity.

Speaking at the funeral reception held at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Ikot Ekpene, the Vice President said the late Deaconess Usoro’s influence was reflected in the life and achievements of her daughter, whom he described as “a mother’s dream fulfilled.”

“The exemplary Ms. Emem Nnana Usoro is a daughter she couldn’t have been prouder of. She stands today as a symbol of a mother’s dream fulfilled — a story defined by sacrifice, prayer, and perseverance,” Shettima said.

He praised the late matriarch’s role as a mother, mentor, and pillar of her community, noting that she lived a life of humility and compassion.

“When we celebrate the late Deaconess Usoro’s achievements, we are in truth celebrating the woman who shaped her children’s character — the mother who toiled in silence, whose sacrifices built their destiny,” he added.

The Vice President, who spoke on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government, extended condolences to the Usoro family, describing the deceased’s life as “a sermon of kindness and a legacy that will outlive her.”

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State also paid tribute to the deceased, commending Ms. Usoro and her family for honouring their mother with dignity. He thanked Vice President Shettima for attending the ceremony, saying his presence demonstrated solidarity with the people of Akwa Ibom State.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio described the late Deaconess Usoro as “an angel heaven is happy to receive,” commending the CBN Deputy Governor for making Akwa Ibom proud through her accomplishments and devotion to family.

Also in attendance were Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Akon Eyakenyi; members of the National and State Assemblies; bank executives; captains of industry; and senior government officials.
