The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Gombe State, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, has called for a clean, peaceful and issue-based campaign ahead of the 2027 governorship election, saying the interest of the state must remain above personal and political differences.
Gwamna said the people of Gombe deserve a campaign focused on their concerns, addressing their needs and presenting practical solutions for a better future.
He said from the beginning of his gubernatorial campaign, he had committed himself to running an issues-based, people-centred and solutions-driven campaign devoid of insults, personal attacks and unnecessary distractions.
“From the very beginning, I made it clear that I will run an issues-based campaign. I have no interest in politics of insults, personal attacks, or needless distractions,” he said.
According to him, the commitment remains central to the direction of his campaign, with “Gombe Above All” serving as its guiding principle.
Gwamna said his campaign would focus on key issues affecting residents, including job creation, economic growth, youth and women empowerment, agriculture and livestock development, education, healthcare, infrastructure, entrepreneurship, investment and innovation.
He also urged residents to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who is seeking election to the Senate, alongside other APC candidates contesting for seats in the National Assembly.
The APC candidate said the projects, programmes and interventions implemented by the Inuwa Yahaya administration provide the party with tangible achievements to present to voters as evidence of its commitment to development and good governance.
“Our campaign is equally committed to consolidating the remarkable achievements of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya while introducing fresh ideas, innovative policies and strategic initiatives that will accelerate growth,” he said.
Gwamna disclosed that he would unveil his comprehensive blueprint for Gombe State when the governorship and State House of Assembly campaigns officially commence.
He said the blueprint would be anchored on three key principles: “Continuity, Sustainability and Consolidation.”
According to him, the proposed agenda would build on the achievements of the current administration while introducing practical measures to create more economic opportunities, improve living standards and ensure that development reaches communities across the state.
“We believe that Gombe possesses the human and natural resources to become one of Africa’s leading sub-national economies, through visionary leadership, disciplined governance, and the collective efforts of our people,” he said.
Gwamna further appealed to political actors, party supporters and citizens to maintain peace throughout the electoral season and embrace respectful political engagement.
He said political differences should not be allowed to undermine the unity and development of the state, stressing that the collective interest of Gombe must remain above individual ambitions.
As political activities ahead of the 2027 elections intensify, the APC candidate said his campaign would continue to prioritise policies, programmes and ideas capable of improving the lives of the people of Gombe State.
