X is ending its Creator Revenue Sharing program and replacing it with the Original Content Rewards Program on September 8, 2026.
The platform announced the change on August 7 through XCreators and its Help Center. X says the new program will reward creators who bring original ideas, expertise, reporting, creativity and commentary to the platform.
New enrollments in Creator Revenue Sharing have already closed. Existing participants will continue earning until September 7, with three final payouts scheduled under the old system.
Starting September 8, existing Revenue Sharing members can apply for the new program through Creator Studio. X says it will review applications and notify creators of the outcome within three business days.
New eligibility requirements
Creators must meet several requirements to qualify. They need at least 500 verified followers and 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users within the previous 90 days as impressions from replies will not count.
Applicants must also be at least 18 years old, live in a supported country and maintain an account in good standing. They must subscribe to X premium, premium+ or premium business and regularly post original content.
The new program will pay creators based on qualified impressions from premium users. These include impressions from premium basic, premium, premium+ and premium business subscribers on the Home Timeline, where at least 50% of the post is visible.
X targets recycled content
X says original content must reflect a creator’s own voice, perspective, expertise or creativity. This can include reporting, analysis, commentary, videos, memes and other creative work.
However, copied content, reuploads and posts without meaningful transformation will not qualify. X also prohibits creators from repeatedly asking users to like, reply, bookmark, follow or repost their content.
The company says the new system aims to move creators away from low-value engagement tactics and toward content that brings something genuinely new to X.
