Olabisi Joseph elected Africa President of the International School Sport Federation (ISF) after members voted during the 2026 ISF General Assembly in Belgrade, Serbia.
The President of the Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF) secured the position after delegates from 82 countries attended the assembly. A total of 79 votes were cast during the election.
Joseph made history as the first African woman and the first woman ever to lead the ISF at the continental level.
Her victory marks another major achievement for Nigeria in the development and administration of school sports across Africa.
In a statement, NSSF Secretary-General Oba Funsho congratulated Joseph on her election. He also assured her of the federation’s full support throughout her tenure.
The statement said the NSSF executives, state coordinators, management, staff and the Nigerian student community celebrate the achievement. It added that the federation would support her efforts to promote school sports across Africa.
Joseph first made history in 2019 when she became the first female President of the NSSF. She emerged unopposed during the federation’s elective congress at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.
Before becoming president, she served as the federation’s secretary. The NSSF also re-elected her for a second term during its 2024 Annual General Meeting in Lagos.
Her latest election strengthens Nigeria’s position in international school sports and highlights the country’s growing role in sports development across the African continent.
