ABU Students Boost Nigeria’s Profile With Medical Innovation

A team of female medical students from Ahmadu Bello University has boosted Nigeria’s global profile after emerging among the top innovators at an international medical technology competition held in China.

The students developed an innovative diagnostic device capable of producing multiple test results within seconds, an invention aimed at improving the speed and efficiency of medical diagnosis.

The breakthrough innovation earned the team top honours at the 2025/2026 international event and also secured a research grant from Huawei ICT in recognition of their contribution to healthcare technology.
