Nollywood actress Osas Ighodaro has secured the lead role in Imported Bahu, a new micro drama that blends Nigerian and Indian storytelling.
The series comes from India’s Forever 7 Entertainment. It combines Nollywood’s vibrant energy with the emotional style often associated with Bollywood productions.
Filmmaker Hamisha Daryani Ahuja directed the project. Indian actor Rajniesh Duggall stars alongside Ighodaro in the cross-cultural production.
Unlike traditional television dramas, Imported Bahu follows the growing microdrama format. Each episode runs for about three minutes and targets mobile viewers. The producers also shot the series in portrait mode to suit smartphone screens.
The show will stream on Lebara Play, Africa’s first telecom-owned micro drama platform. Producers expect the series to premiere in early July.
Meanwhile, excitement around the project has continued to build online. Ighodaro recently shared the official poster on TikTok, where fans welcomed the collaboration and praised the actress for expanding her international profile.
Many viewers described the project as another positive step for creative partnerships between Nigeria and India. Others pointed to the growing popularity of cross-border productions in both film industries.
The collaboration also follows earlier Nigeria-India projects that attracted attention from audiences in both countries. One of the most notable examples remains Namaste Wahala, which introduced many viewers to the potential of Bollywood Nollywood partnerships.
For Ighodaro, the role adds another milestone to a successful acting career. The actress has earned praise for her performances in several Nollywood productions, including Man of Her Match and other popular titles.
Industry observers believe Imported Bahu could help introduce micro dramas to a wider African audience. The format has gained significant popularity in Asia, particularly among younger viewers who prefer short-form content.
As anticipation grows ahead of the premiere, fans will soon find out whether Imported Bahu can replicate the success of previous international collaborations and further strengthen ties between Nollywood and Bollywood.
