Aminu Muhammad Dalhatu has officially presented his Letters of Credence to King Charles III during a ceremony held at St James’s Palace.
The presentation formally confirms Dalhatu as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. He attended the ceremony alongside his wife.
Letters of Credence are official diplomatic documents issued to confirm the appointment of an envoy to a host country. Once accepted by the receiving nation, the diplomat is fully authorised to begin official duties.
By accepting the credentials, King Charles III formally recognised Dalhatu as Nigeria’s representative in the United Kingdom.
The Nigerian British Chamber of Commerce welcomed the development, describing it as an important milestone in Nigeria–UK relations.
According to the chamber, the event reflects growing cooperation between both countries and follows recent diplomatic engagements, including President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Windsor Castle.
The chamber expressed confidence in Dalhatu’s appointment, noting that his tenure could strengthen trade, investment, and broader bilateral relations between Nigeria and the UK.
Nigeria and the United Kingdom maintain longstanding ties in areas such as trade, education, culture, and security cooperation.
Analysts believe Dalhatu’s appointment could further deepen diplomatic engagement and encourage stronger economic collaboration between both nations.
