The Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command of the Nigerian Army, Major General Peter Malla, has urged members of the examination panel for the 2026 Captain-to-Major promotion exercise to maintain high standards throughout the process.

He gave the directive at the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport in Benin City, where he also serves as Examination President.

Malla said the success of the exercise depends largely on the conduct of the panel and the level of discipline they bring to their duties.

He noted that the promotion examination plays an important role in shaping the future leadership of the Army. According to him, the panel must focus on merit and assess candidates based on their leadership qualities, decision-making ability, and capacity to handle current security challenges.

He stressed that the Army requires officers who can think clearly under pressure and respond effectively in complex situations. He urged panel members to remain fair and consistent in their evaluations.

Malla also linked the exercise to the broader goal of building a professional, well-prepared, and resilient force. He asked the panel to follow the Nigerian Army Charter for Promotion Examinations and apply its guidelines carefully.

He expressed confidence in the panel and encouraged members to reflect the values of the Army in their work. He also appreciated the Chief of Army Staff for his continued support.

Earlier, the Commandant of the school, Major General Adebayo Adegbite, welcomed participants and described the exercise as important to the Army’s development.

He assured them that the institution would provide the support needed for a smooth exercise.
