The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has urged the European Union to deepen investment and strengthen partnerships with Abuja.
Wike made the call at the EU House in Abuja during a meeting with ambassadors led by Gautier Mignot, said the FCT offers clear opportunities in real estate, tourism, agriculture, and waste management. He described Abuja as a stable and business-friendly capital.
He outlined key priorities of the FCT Administration, including infrastructure, security, education, healthcare, and land reforms. The administration is expanding road networks and improving public transport. It is also working to increase water supply in growing communities. On security, Wike said the FCT has built 12 new police headquarters and officers’ quarters across the six area councils. He explained that these steps aim to improve safety, support economic activity, and attract more investors.
Wike also pointed to wider reforms under President Bola Tinubu, he said policies such as fuel subsidy removal, exchange rate unification, and tax reforms are helping to stabilise the economy.
The minister noted that Nigeria’s democracy is becoming more stable, with fewer conflicts between the executive and legislature and also acknowledged security challenges, said the government is improving coordination among agencies and investing in intelligence to tackle threats.
Wike added that these efforts are key to building investor confidence and sustaining growth.
