Karex, one of the world’s largest condom manufacturers, has announced plans to increase the price of its products by at least 30% if the conflict involving Iran continues.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Goh Miah Giat, disclosed this during a media interview, stating that the conflict has already begun to disrupt the supply chain for key raw materials used in condom production.
He explained that since the outbreak of the conflict, the company has been facing difficulties sourcing essential production materials, leading to increased manufacturing costs.
Karex emphasized that if the situation persists, a price hike will be unavoidable in order to offset rising costs and maintain product availability in the market.
Experts warn that such an increase could significantly impact consumers, particularly in developing countries where condoms play a critical role in public health and disease prevention.
