A road crash has killed Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle, a 200-level student of Abia State University, along the Okigwe/Afikpo Expressway in Uturu, Abia State.
The accident happened on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the Water Board area, when two motorcycles collided and threw their passengers onto the road. Moments later, a moving Mack truck ran over the student, killing her instantly.
Police spokesperson, Maureen Chioma Chinaka, confirmed the incident on Monday, she said officers from the Motor Traffic Department rushed to the scene after the crash.
“Two motorcycles collided and threw passengers onto the road. A Mack truck then ran over the victim,” Chinaka said.
Rescue teams took injured victims to a nearby hospital, where they are receiving treatment. A doctor later confirmed the student dead, and authorities released her body to her family.
Police have arrested one suspect linked to the crash. Meanwhile, officers are searching for two other suspects connected to the incident.
Authorities have also recovered the motorcycles and the truck involved. They have taken the vehicles to the station for further investigation.
A video from the scene spread widely on social media and drew public concern over road safety on the busy expressway.
Police have begun a full investigation to determine the cause of the crash and hold those responsible accountable.
