Residents and stakeholders in Gombe State have praised former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami for what they describe as impactful leadership during his time in office.
The commendation follows the release of a detailed list highlighting more than 170 projects and initiatives carried out in the state. These projects span his tenure at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and later as minister.
Records show that Prof. Pantami facilitated employment for more than 600 youths from Gombe State across federal government agencies. This effort boosted job creation and strengthened youth empowerment in the state.
Observers say his tenure brought key federal institutions to Gombe. These include zonal offices of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), NITDA, Galaxy Backbone, and NIGCOMSAT.
These developments have positioned Gombe as a growing hub for digital and communication infrastructure in the North-East.
prof. Pantami led the rollout of Digital Economy Centres, ICT hubs, and e-learning facilities across schools and communities. These projects improved digital literacy and prepared young people for global opportunities.
He also supported the installation of Base Transceiver Stations (BTS), fibre-optic networks, and free internet services in key locations such as Gombe State University and the main market.
Thousands of residents benefited from ICT training programmed and digital skills initiatives. His programmes also supported women entrepreneurs and provided specialized training for persons with disabilities.
Farmers received support through smart agriculture programmed, with over 500 beneficiaries gaining access to funding and digital tools.
Prof Panchami’s interventions extended to community development. These include solar street lighting, school renovations, health facility upgrades, and the distribution of food items and fertilizers.
Residents say these efforts reflect a broad and inclusive approach to development.
Some stakeholders argue that no public office holder in Gombe’s history has delivered such a wide range of projects within a single tenure.
As more projects are documented, public discussion around Prof. Pantami’s contributions continues to grow. Many now describe his record as a benchmark for effective service delivery.
