Prof Pantami Mourns Renowned Scholar Modibbo (Baba Gembu)

Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Ali Pantami, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Modibbo Aliyu Waziri, who passed away yesterday at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola. He was 78.

Modibbo Aliyu Waziri devoted his life to learning and teaching. He lived in Yola, Adamawa State, for many years before moving to Gembu in Taraba State, where he continued mentoring students in Sardauna. His humility, generosity, and love for others earned him deep respect in his community.

Baba Gembu was laid to rest in Yola yesterday. He leaves behind nine children and a lasting legacy of knowledge and service. Prof. Pantami, along with the community, extends heartfelt condolences to his family, relatives, students, and everyone who benefited from his wisdom.

“May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus, alongside our departed parents and loved ones,” the message concluded.

Modibbo Aliyu Waziri’s contributions to education and humanity will be remembered for generations.
