The Chairperson of the Anambra State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Tochukwu Ifejika, has applauded the Governor of Anambra State, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for appointing women technocrats into key positions in his second-term administration.

Speaking with journalists in Awka, Ifejika described the move as a clear demonstration of the Governor’s commitment to merit and inclusiveness, noting that recognizing competence regardless of gender is essential for sustainable development.

She stated that the deliberate inclusion of women in governance reflects a progressive leadership style, adding that it reinforces confidence in the administration’s direction and priorities.

According to her, the appointments mark a significant step in advancing gender balance in the state’s political space, while also encouraging more women to aspire to leadership roles.

The NAWOJ Chairperson also acknowledged the support of the Governor’s wife, Nonye Soludo, for women journalists and her contributions to the development of the media profession in the state.

While commending the current strides, Ifejika called for sustained efforts to increase women’s representation in decision-making processes across all levels of government, stressing that inclusive governance remains key to achieving broader societal progress.
