A 35-year-old Florida woman, Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, has pleaded not guilty in Los Angeles after allegedly firing shots at the Beverly Hills home of pop star Rihanna.
Ortiz reportedly fired about 20 rounds from an AR-15-style rifle on March 8, 2026, while Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky, and their three children were inside. No one was hurt.
Police arrested Ortiz shortly after the shooting. They found the rifle, ammunition, and a disguise in her vehicle.
She faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and shooting at an inhabited dwelling. At her March 25 court appearance, she entered a not guilty plea. The judge set bail at $1.875 million and denied requests to reduce it. Prosecutors also requested that she not practice as a speech therapist during the trial.
If convicted on all charges, Ortiz could face life in prison. Authorities have not explained a motive. Investigators are reviewing social media and other evidence to understand why she allegedly targeted Rihanna’s home.
Police said the shots were fired from a vehicle toward the home’s gate and exterior areas. Some bullets hit nearby objects, including a wall near the children’s nursery. Law enforcement quickly took Ortiz into custody without further incident.
The case has drawn worldwide attention because Rihanna and her family were home during the shooting. It raises concerns about celebrity security and firearm safety in residential areas.
