Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has called for increased public awareness of cybersecurity. He shared the message in a video posted on his verified Facebook page.
In the video, Pantami stressed the growing importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital world. He said individuals, institutions, and governments must take proactive steps to protect sensitive information.
He noted that as digital adoption rises, cyber risks also increase. These include cyberattacks, data breaches, and online fraud.
According to him, people can prevent many of these threats through proper education and awareness. He also advised users to follow basic digital safety practices.
Pantami urged citizens to stay vigilant online. He encouraged them to protect personal data, avoid suspicious links, and use stronger security measures, such as multi-factor authentication.
He also called on stakeholders, including schools and policymakers, to prioritize cybersecurity education. He said they should integrate it into national development strategies.
His message comes as Nigeria and other countries expand digital systems. This makes cybersecurity awareness more important for national security and economic stability.
