The letter was addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Tambuwal/Shinfiri Ward in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
He said the resignation takes effect immediately.
In the letter, the senator blamed the decision on ongoing disputes within the party.
According to him, persistent internal crises and leadership disagreements made it difficult to remain active in the party.
He said the conflicts had weakened the unity and direction that once defined the PDP.
Tambuwal asked the party leadership to accept the letter as formal notice of his resignation.
He thanked the party for the opportunity to serve as a member.
The development comes amid wider internal tensions within the PDP.
