The Lagos School Security threat has prompted increased security across the state after a notice claimed bandits planned to attack schools and abduct pupils.
The message circulated in parts of Lagos and caused concern among parents, teachers, and residents. Many schools reviewed their safety measures after receiving the alert. However, the police say they have found no intelligence that points to an imminent attack anywhere in the state.
Police spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi said Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai ordered an immediate security review. He also directed officers to increase security at schools, public places, and vulnerable communities.
The police have strengthened patrols around schools and stepped up surveillance in key areas. Officers are also working with other security agencies to stop any attempt to threaten public safety.
Adebisi said the operation aims to reassure residents and keep schools safe. She stressed that kidnappers, bandits, and other criminal groups will not find space to operate in Lagos.
The Command also warned against spreading false information that could create fear or panic. It said anyone who engages in such activities will face legal action.
Police urged residents to stay alert and report suspicious persons, movements, or activities to the nearest police station or emergency line.
The alert comes as security agencies across Nigeria increase vigilance following reports of school attacks and kidnappings in some parts of the country. Those incidents have encouraged authorities to strengthen preventive measures and improve security around educational institutions.
Police say schools and critical infrastructure across Lagos remain secure. The Command added that officers will continue to maintain a strong presence to protect lives and property.
