Ousmane Dembele has won the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award for the second straight season after another strong campaign with Paris Saint-Germain.
The French forward became the first player since Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2014 to win the award in consecutive years.
Dembele replaced Kylian Mbappe as the winner last season. Mbappe had claimed the prize five years in a row before joining Real Madrid.
The 28-year-old thanked his teammates after receiving the award.
“It’s an individual trophy, but my teammates helped me win it,” Dembele said.
Injuries limited Dembele’s playing time this season. He started only nine league matches and played 960 minutes.
Despite that, he still scored 10 goals and provided six assists for PSG.
PSG moved closer to another Ligue 1 title after beating Brest 1-0 on Sunday. Luis Enrique’s side sit six points above Lens with two matches left.
The club can seal the title if they avoid defeat against Lens on Wednesday. PSG also reached the UEFA Champions League final after beating Bayern Munich 6-5 on aggregate.
They will face Arsenal in the final later this month.
PSG youngster Desire Doue won the Best Young Player award, while Pierre Sage claimed Coach of the Year after leading Lens to a strong season.
