Kashim Shettima on Wednesday endorsed Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as the next governor of Nasarawa State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Shettima made the declaration during the opening of the 2026 Nasarawa Investment Summit in Lafia. The summit carried the theme, “Bold Transitions, Building a Legacy for a Sustainable Future.”
The Vice President assured investors that Nasarawa would sustain its economic reforms and investment policies after Governor Abdullahi Sule leaves office in 2027.
Speaking before investors, political leaders, traditional rulers and development partners, Shettima identified Wadada as the politician who would continue Sule’s development agenda.
“I want to assure the investing public that, by the grace of God, seated in our midst here is the next governor of Nasarawa. He would abide by the contract,” Shettima said.
Shettima described Wadada as a technocrat with strong banking experience and praised his capacity to manage the state’s economic direction after Sule’s administration.
He also addressed the senator directly and said, “Senator Wadada, you have your job cut out for you. We wish you well.”
Many political observers consider Wadada the preferred successor to Sule ahead of the All Progressives Congress governorship primary.
The summit also produced the “Lafia Declaration,” an agreement involving political parties, investors, the judiciary, lawmakers and development partners to protect Nasarawa’s economic reforms beyond the 2027 transition.
Shettima said continuity, competence and stability would strengthen investor confidence and help the state maintain long-term growth.
