President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that their sacrifices and perseverance are translating into tangible national progress, growth, and development. Speaking during a public address on Thursday, the President highlighted key achievements of his administration and emphasized that the efforts of citizens are central to the country’s transformation.
“Your suffering has not been in vain,” President Tinubu said. “Every challenge endured, every difficulty faced, has contributed to the growth and resilience of our nation. Nigeria is on a path of progress, and it is the unwavering spirit of our people that drives this transformation.”
The President acknowledged the economic, social, and infrastructural challenges that Nigerians continue to face but stressed that government policies are beginning to yield positive results.
President Tinubu cited recent macroeconomic indicators as evidence of progress. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 4.23% in Q2 2025, driven by improvements in agriculture, manufacturing, and services. Inflation, while still a concern, has shown signs of moderation in key consumer goods sectors, and foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows continue to rise, reflecting growing confidence in Nigeria’s economic landscape.
“From the stabilization of our currency to the revitalization of our industries, we are building an economy that works for all Nigerians,” Tinubu said.
The President also pointed to the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, including roads, railways, and power projects. Initiatives in housing, healthcare, and education were highlighted as pillars of sustainable development.
“Progress is not only about GDP figures. It is about improving lives, ensuring access to education, healthcare, and opportunities for all,” Tinubu emphasized.
Tinubu praised Nigerians for their resilience in the face of persistent challenges, including insecurity, unemployment, and inflation. He noted that community-driven initiatives, entrepreneurial ventures, and civic engagement are critical to sustaining growth and strengthening national unity.
“Your contributions, whether through labor, enterprise, or civic responsibility, are building the foundation of a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria,” he said.
The President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to job creation, poverty alleviation, and empowerment programs for youth and women. He highlighted the ongoing labour export initiatives and economic diversification policies aimed at creating opportunities beyond the oil sector.
“These policies are designed to ensure that the sacrifices you make today will benefit generations to come,” Tinubu stated.
Reaction to the President’s address has been largely positive on social media and among policy analysts. Many Nigerians acknowledged the recognition of their hardships while urging continuous and transparent implementation of reforms.
@NaijaVoice tweeted: “It’s encouraging to hear the President acknowledge our struggles. Now we hope the policies match the promises.”
Economist Dr. Chika Okafor noted: “Acknowledging the people’s role in national development is important, but it must be paired with measurable outcomes. So far, GDP growth and infrastructural projects are promising indicators.”
President Tinubu concluded by urging citizens to remain patient and steadfast, noting that national transformation is a collective journey that requires cooperation between government, private sector, and civil society.
“The path of progress is not easy, but together we can achieve growth that is inclusive, sustainable, and transformative,” he said.
As Nigeria navigates economic recovery and development challenges, President Tinubu’s message serves as both recognition of citizens’ resilience and a call to continue working collectively toward national advancement. With economic indicators showing signs of improvement and government projects underway, the administration asserts that Nigeria is steadily moving toward a future of stability, prosperity, and shared progress.
