President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has mourned the passing of Major General Abdullahi Mohammed Adangba (rtd.), a former Chief of Staff to Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

General Mohammed, who died at the age of 86, was a key figure in Nigeria’s security architecture and played a pivotal role in the establishment of the National Security Organisation — the precursor to the State Security Service (SSS), the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).

He also served as Governor of the defunct Benue-Plateau State between 1975 and 1976.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described the late General as “a disciplined, loyal, and patriotic officer whose service to the nation was marked by integrity, humility, and dedication.”

The President said General Mohammed’s legacy in public service and his contributions to the stability and governance of Nigeria would be long remembered.

“He was a man of exemplary character, who combined the precision of a soldier with the prudence of a statesman. His years in the State House were marked by humility, efficiency, and unwavering commitment to the Nigerian project,” Tinubu said.

President Tinubu extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, the government and people of Kwara State, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and all who mourn the passing of the retired General.
