President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has welcomed the official launch of Lebara Nigeria, describing it as a strong vote of confidence in Nigeria’s digital economy.
He said the entry of Lebara into the Nigerian market reflects the country’s growing appeal as a technology and investment destination.
The President noted that Nigeria’s telecommunications sector remains a major economic driver.
He disclosed that the sector recorded a 5.78 percent year-on-year growth in the third quarter of 2025.
According to him, telecommunications now contributes over 14 percent to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product.

President Tinubu commended Lebara Nigeria’s leadership for expanding access to telecom services.
He praised the company for supporting job creation and strengthening digital infrastructure.
The President acknowledged the role of Lebara’s Chief Executive, Teniola Stuffman, in driving the company’s vision.
He said investments of this scale deepen financial inclusion and support innovation-led growth.
President Tinubu also recognised the presence of the British High Commission at the launch.
He said the participation of the Deputy High Commissioner, Johny Baxter, reflects strong Nigeria–UK relations.
The President further commended the Chairman of the Advisory Board, Bimbo Ashiru, and board members.
He said their confidence signals belief in Nigeria’s long-term growth prospects.
President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to a stable and investor-friendly environment.
He encouraged deeper public-private collaboration to advance Nigeria’s digital transformation.
