President Donald Trump has claimed that American forces destroyed and sank nine Iranian naval vessels during recent military operations.
Trump made the statement on Saturday, saying some of the destroyed ships were “relatively large and important.”
He added that U.S. forces also carried out a separate strike that largely destroyed Iran’s naval headquarters.

“I have just been informed that we have destroyed and sunk nine Iranian naval ships,” the president said.
“In a different attack, we largely destroyed their naval headquarters,” he added.
Trump offered no operational details, locations, or timelines for the reported strikes.
Iranian authorities have not immediately confirmed the claims.
There was also no independent verification from U.S. military officials at the time of the statement.
The remarks come amid escalating military tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran.
Naval operations in the region have intensified following recent air and missile exchanges.
Iran’s navy plays a strategic role in the Persian Gulf and surrounding waterways, including key global shipping routes.
Any confirmed losses could have significant implications for regional security and maritime trade.
Further official briefings are expected as developments continue.
