The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of two suspected bandit and kidnapping kingpins in Kwara State in a covert security operation coordinated by the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID–IRT), in collaboration with the Kwara State Police Command.

The suspects, identified as Abubakar Usman (alias Siddi), 26, and Shehu Mohammadu (alias Gide), 30, were arrested on Friday, December 19, 2025, along the Komen–Masallaci axis in Kaiama Local Government Area. Police say the duo are linked to violent crimes and kidnapping activities across Katsina, Zamfara, Niger, and Kwara States.

Items recovered from the suspects include a Honda Ace 125 motorcycle, ₦500,000 cash, and an AK-47 rifle with 20 rounds of ammunition, which investigators believe were connected to ransom operations and illegal arms supply.

According to preliminary findings, the men are part of a wider network suspected of both carrying out attacks and supplying weapons to criminal groups. One of the suspects, Abubakar Usman, was previously seen in a viral video displaying firearms and large sums of money.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the operatives for what he described as a “significant breakthrough” and reiterated the Police Force’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks. He urged Nigerians to support ongoing security efforts with credible intelligence.

The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
