The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has announced plans to deepen collaboration with the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Kano Branch, to promote gender justice and protect the rights of women and children in the state.

During a courtesy visit to the Commission on Thursday, 23rd October 2025, the FIDA delegation led by its Chairperson, Salma Ahmad Danbappa, outlined the organization’s ongoing efforts in providing free legal mediation, advocating for gender-responsive legislation, and training stakeholders on human rights and access to justice.

Danbappa expressed FIDA’s readiness to partner with the Commission through data sharing, joint capacity-building programmes, and active participation in PCACC-led initiatives that address complaints related to gender-based discrimination and violence.

In his remarks, PCACC Chairman, Mr. Saidu Yahaya, commended FIDA for its long-standing commitment to promoting justice and fairness, describing the collaboration as a vital step toward ensuring gender-sensitive governance and accountability in Kano State.

He disclosed that the Commission would soon establish a dedicated register for gender-based petitions and invited FIDA to support the process through technical assistance and staff training.

“This partnership will help us strengthen institutional response to gender-based complaints and promote fairness for all citizens, especially women and children,” Yahaya said.

Both organizations agreed to explore further areas of mutual interest aimed at enhancing justice delivery and protecting vulnerable groups across the state.
