The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed more than 55,000 operatives across the country to ensure the protection of lives, property and critical national assets during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The Commandant General of the Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, disclosed that the nationwide deployment is aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture during the festive season, a period often exploited by criminal elements to perpetrate unlawful activities.
According to him, the operatives have been strategically positioned to provide adequate security coverage at critical infrastructure, public spaces, places of worship, recreational centres, markets and other flashpoints across the federation.

Audi directed Zonal Commanders to maintain close supervision of formations under their jurisdiction, while State Commandants were instructed to effectively coordinate area commands, divisions and specialised units to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
He reaffirmed the Corps’ readiness to collaborate with sister security agencies in maintaining law and order throughout the festive period and urged members of the public to cooperate with security personnel by providing timely information and adhering to safety advisories.
The NSCDC boss assured Nigerians of the Corps’ commitment to a peaceful and secure Yuletide celebration nationwide.
