The Nigeria Football Federation’s Referee Development Committee has taken decisive action against match official Nyah Victor, suspending him indefinitely for what it described as biased and damaging officiating. The incident occurred during a Nigeria National League (NNL) clash in Uyo, where Rovers FC faced Ekiti United.
According to the NFF, Victor’s decision to award what was deemed an “unjustified penalty” not only influenced the outcome of the match but also undermined the integrity of the league.
In a statement released by committee representative Ameenu Mohammed, the federation emphasized that match officials hold a responsibility to protect the credibility of the sport. Victor’s controversial call, they noted, “brings the game to disrepute.”
