Nigeria’s economy recorded a 4.07 percent real GDP growth in the fourth quarter of 2025, according to new data from the National Bureau of Statistics.

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, said the figures reflect strengthening macroeconomic stability.

He noted that this is only the second time in a decade, outside the post-pandemic rebound, that quarterly growth crossed four percent.

The Q4 performance follows a 4.23 percent expansion in Q2 2025 and improves on the 3.76 percent recorded in Q3 2024.

According to the Minister, the trend shows the positive impact of reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Broad-Based Sector Growth

Economic expansion in Q4 2025 cut across agriculture, industry, and services.

Agriculture grew by 4.0 percent, up from 2.54 percent in Q4 2024.

The Ministry attributed the improvement to better security in farming areas and increased access to inputs.

Industry expanded by 3.88 percent, compared to 2.49 percent in the same period last year.

This growth was supported by improved foreign exchange liquidity, energy reforms, and rising investor confidence.

The services sector recorded a 4.15 percent increase, driven by finance, telecommunications, trade, and technology.

About 30 subsectors grew above three percent, highlighting stronger economic diversification.

Full-Year Outlook

For the full year 2025, Nigeria’s real GDP grew by 3.87 percent, up from 3.38 percent in 2024.

The size of the economy rose to ₦441.5 trillion, compared to ₦372.8 trillion the previous year.

The Finance Minister said the performance reflects improved fiscal coordination and disciplined spending.

He added that stronger revenue mobilisation and structural reforms are restoring investor confidence.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to sustained reforms, transparency, and stakeholder engagement.
