IDEALOGICIAL CRISIS BETWEEN U.S AND VENEZUELA

Several countries including Iran, Russia, Cuba and Colombia have strongly condemned a large-scale United States military strike on Venezuela, describing it as a violation of sovereignty and international law.

The reaction followed an announcement by US President Donald Trump that American forces had captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and flown him and his wife out of the country.

The Venezuelan government denounced the action as an “extremely serious military aggression” by Washington and immediately declared a state of emergency.

Caracas said the attack posed a grave threat to regional stability and national sovereignty, prompting swift reactions from allies and neighbouring countries.

Iran, a close ally of oil-rich Venezuela, said it “strongly condemns the US military attack on Venezuela,” calling it a flagrant violation of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Tehran warned that such actions undermine international norms and could escalate global tensions.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro described the strike as an “assault on the sovereignty of Latin America,” warning it could trigger a major humanitarian crisis.

Colombia, currently a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, called for an immediate emergency meeting of the council to address the situation.

Cuba also condemned the US action, with President Miguel Diaz-Canel describing it as “state terrorism against the brave Venezuelan people.” Havana urged the international community to respond to what it called a “criminal attack” on Caracas.

Russia labelled the strike “an act of armed aggression against Venezuela,” with its foreign ministry saying the justifications offered by Washington were “untenable.” Moscow also accused the United States of allowing ideological hostility to override diplomatic and pragmatic engagement.

In Europe, Spain offered to mediate, calling for de-escalation and restraint and proposing a negotiated, peaceful solution to the crisis, while Germany and Italy said they were closely monitoring developments and coordinating with partners, while US Democratic senators and former Bolivian president Evo Morales criticised the attack, warning it was illegal and could draw the region into a wider conflict.
