Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has hosted a high-level dinner in Abuja in honour of visiting investors and development partners from Tunisia and Morocco, making a strong case for African-driven development partnerships.

The delegation, operating under the Tunisia Consortium for African Development, is targeting investment opportunities in water resources, renewable energy, agriculture, and infrastructure across the state.

Governor Yahaya said his administration remains committed to strengthening South-South cooperation and building transformative investments capable of accelerating sustainable development.

He noted that the delegation had earlier conducted technical inspections of key facilities, including the Daɗinkowa Dam and the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park, as part of efforts to develop practical and bankable partnerships.

According to him, Africa must increasingly look inward for solutions, stressing that collaboration among African nations offers the most reliable path to unlocking the continent’s vast economic potential.

We do not need to constantly look outside for solutions, the governor said, emphasizing that shared identity, business cooperation, and mutual goals can drive meaningful development.

He highlighted Gombe’s strategic location in the North-East, its three major dams, vast arable land, and energetic population as critical advantages for agro-industrial expansion, renewable energy, and water management.

In his remarks, the Tunisian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohsen Antit, commended the governor’s vision and affirmed Tunisian investors’ readiness to partner with the state.

He said Tunisia possesses strong expertise in water, energy, and infrastructure, and invited the governor to the Financing Investment and Trade in Africa Forum scheduled for April in Tunis, describing it as an opportunity to unlock further financing.

Earlier, the Chief Executive of African Network Centre Ltd, Alhaji Ahmed Shuaibu Gara-Gombe, said the visit had opened new investment frontiers in irrigation, renewable energy, construction, and industrial development.

He added that technical assessments and signed agreements between both parties would lay the foundation for structured project implementation and long-term economic cooperation.
