Governor Zulum Vows to Address Insecurity at Exco Meeting

Babagana Umara Zulum has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to address remaining security challenges in Borno State.

The governor also pledged timely completion of all ongoing development projects across the three senatorial districts.

Zulum spoke at the first State Executive Council meeting of 2026 in Maiduguri.

The meeting held at the Council Chamber of the Government House.

He described 2026 as a year of consolidation for his administration.

Zulum said relative peace has returned to many communities.

However, he stressed that pockets of insecurity still exist.

The governor assured that security efforts would be intensified statewide.

He said the government would continue close collaboration with security agencies.

Zulum also announced renewed focus on resettling internally displaced persons.

He said the approach would prioritise durable, long-term solutions.

According to him, rebuilding conflict-affected communities remains a key priority.

He added that sustainable livelihoods would support returning residents.

The governor further highlighted plans to strengthen social protection systems.

He said social security remains central to rebuilding Borno State.

Zulum noted that social amenities alone are not enough for recovery.

He stressed the importance of protecting vulnerable populations.

Top government officials attended the meeting.

They included the Secretary to the State Government and Executive Council members.

Observers say the pledge signals renewed determination to consolidate peace.

They add that development projects will accelerate across the state.
