Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged residents to embrace peace, tolerance, and mutual understanding as Christians across the state celebrate Christmas. He made the call in a Christmas message issued on Wednesday, stressing the need for citizens to reflect the virtues of love, sacrifice, and compassion that the season represents.

Governor Fubara said Christmas remains a symbol of hope, renewal, and divine love, adding that the birth of Jesus Christ offers a lesson in humility and peaceful coexistence. He encouraged residents to allow these values to guide their daily conduct, regardless of religious differences, and to promote unity in the face of Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges.

Describing the state’s diversity as a strength, the governor advised citizens to replace discord with dialogue and prioritize understanding over division. He called for religious tolerance and urged the people to recommit to being their brother’s keeper as a way of consolidating progress and social harmony.

On public safety during the festive season, Governor Fubara appealed to residents to remain security-conscious and cooperate with authorities to ensure a peaceful celebration. He noted that the responsibility of safeguarding the state is collective and must be supported through vigilance, mutual respect, and community collaboration.
