The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has announced the withdrawal of the registration certificate of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) following a decision by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, the Ministry said the CAC’s action, contained in a letter dated October 6, 2025, was based on multiple violations of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020 and the NYCN Constitution.

According to the Ministry, the CAC conducted a comprehensive investigation into the affairs of the Council, which has been plagued by leadership crises for over 18 years. The investigation revealed serial breaches of Sections 833 and 834 of CAMA, leading to the de-recognition of all existing claims to NYCN leadership and management.

In line with its statutory powers, the CAC has constituted an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to oversee and manage the affairs of the Council for one year, effective October 6, 2025.

The Ministry, which serves as the supervisory authority over the Council, urged all stakeholders and youth organizations to cooperate with the IMC in the ongoing restructuring process.

“This exercise is aimed at restoring unity, legitimacy, and institutional integrity to the NYCN, in line with its founding ideals,” the statement said.
